Delaware Seashore State Park

One of Delaware's most popular destinations, Delaware Seashore State Park welcomes visitors to experience six miles of ocean and bay shoreline. The park borders the Atlantic Ocean to the east, and Rehoboth and Indian River Bays to the west. The Indian River Life-Saving Station is a historic site within the park, and doubles as the park's nature center. Tours and educational programs are offered year-round. For a convenient stay nestled between the Delaware resorts, reserve a campsite in our modern family campground, just a short walk away from the beach.

Delaware Seashore State Park campground boasts 151 RV sites, 94 standard campsites without hook-ups; and 37 tent camping only sites. Two bathhouses with hot and cold running water (April - November) serve the campground, equiped with laundry facilities. The campground itself faces the Indian River Inlet, a popular site for fishing. At our camp store, summer campers may purchase forgotten necessities or food-stuffs.

Cape Henlopen State Park

This largest of the Delaware State Parks (over 7,000 acres) was in part the result of William Penn's 1682 declaration of this piece of coastal habitat to be for "the usages of the citizens of Lewes and Sussex County."

In addition to camping at the family campground visitors come to Cape Henlopen State Park year-round to enjoy the lifeguarded ocean swimming beaches, fishing from ocean beaches or the bayside Pier, extensive environmental and historical programming at the Seaside Nature Center and the Ft. Miles Historical Area, bird-watching, hiking, playground, biking, or playing a round on the popular disc golf course. The park also has facilities available for organized youth group camping as well as conference and meeting facilities.

Holts Landing State Park is home to the only pier on Delaware's Inland Bays that was built specifically for crabbing. The sturdy pier opened in 2001 and overhangs the shallow bay waters, allowing crabbers and anglers alike to fish for blue crabs and other mid-Atlantic delicacies. The pier is open daily from 8 a.m. until sunset.

Today, the Delaware Division of Parks and Recreation provides a surprising variety of recreation pursuits at this small bayside park. Picnicking is one of the more popular activities. Picnic tables and grills are located under shade trees throughout the park, and the large grassy lawns overlooking the bay invite visitors to spread out a picnic blanket. A picnic pavilion with a barbeque grill can be reserved for family reunions, corporate parties, and other group events. A recreation equipment bag with horseshoes, soccer balls, flying discs and more are available for rental.

And be sure to check out all the great park activities listed in our Summer Guide!
